Whats up with the spot he is standing on? Is it a rub, bed, or what?

It's a spot that is bare because of the minerals and food that I have been putting down. It's right behind my cabin and where I can watch them

He is a great looking Buck but he looks pretty young to me, I am thinking like a 2 1/2 year old. He still has plenty growing to go. Keep feeding him the good stuff. I could be wrong but he looks mighty young.
