I usually buck hunt until after Thanksgiving weekend.  I don't want to miss an opportunity for a buck by shooting a doe.  After that, I start looking for a nice doe to eat.

Bow season I'll shoot a couple does. It gets meat in the freezer and hones my skills at shooting them for when the big boy steps out. Rifle season I'll hunt buck only the first weekend, after that it's game over for any does that step by. Bucks I'll only shoot if there 3.5 or older.

I will take whatever comes under my stand. I'm not picky. Besides, last year I tried to boil those antlers and they just wouldn't get tender. (LOL)

Mississippi law says one doe and one buck per day. 3 bucks per season and 3 doe per season, with two bonus doe in archery season. The law is the law, whether I agree with it or not!

I'll shoot two one opening morning if it presents itself.  Other than that I'll hunt does for the first three weeks of season.  As the rut comes into play I stay away from the does and concintrate on a buck, the last couple of weeks of the season I will take does again.

we are way overloaded - i am actually sponsoring a couple of doe hunts for disabled vets this year - to help thin them out - we will see about 6-7 doe for every buck - i say we have about 40-50 doe in our area and we own 190 acres and see a different doe each time we go out

Let me know if you need some volunteer help for those hunts.

I dont consider it greedy.....  Just efficient!!   ;D
This is opening day last year.  We ended the weekend with 12 total. 8 bucks (nice 8's or better) and 4 does.
The landowner asked us to shoot a bunch of deer to get the herd size down.  We came back later in the week and harvested 6 more does.  We left lots of 1 1/2 year old bucks thru for 'seed' for next year.  Cant wait.
