In Missouri you can not carry any firearm while bowhunting. I know a guy that got a $250 ticket last year for carrying his pistol.

It's supposed to be illegal here in Florida, however, most of the Game Wardens I have talked to say that if you are loaded with snake shot (we have LOTS of rattlers here - killed three on our lease last year), they won't cite you, but if you're loaded with hollow points or some other big game or defense rounds, you're probably gonna get a ticket.

No can do here in Tennessee. If I could though I could put the smack down on some coyotes. They get awful close to me some times. I guess I'm just too dad gum stealthy..  --099-780

No. It is illegal in Alabama to carry a firearm while bowhunting regardless of caliber.

no way in NJ...state don't trust their residents enough to be able to protect themselves...it's pathetic.  Not too sure bout VA where I'm from though...I do, just cause of where I hunt...don't want no pesky bears or kitty cats getting to me!!!  come to think of it i carry most everywhere while in VA...don't feel right without it on my hip.  maybe ill look into that cause i certainly don't want to get ticketed.

I believe this is true in PA also. I will investigate further and let you know how the law reads.

Same here in Michigan, but if I remember right, in Colorado you can carry open while bowhunting.  I hear ya Russcat, here in Michigan it isn't a good thought to be hunting bear with a bow and trying to walk out at night without any protection!
UNJ is correct and he is not correct... you can carry a handgun during archery season in Michigan but only if you have a CPL (CCW) and carry it concealed.  I always carry mine.

I'm not sure wether or not a side arm can be carried but a bow hunter can be accompinied by a firearm hunter, but not in the same stand location. Enter and exiting the area is ok. I am going to try to find out if a side arm can be carried.

Yes, sidearm can be carried while bowhunting in ND, they passed that 2 years ago, the same year they opened the mountain lion season, you do not need a cwp either, just strap it on your belt or shoulder holster and go, It cannot be used in any manner to assist in the hunt, but must be a legal hunting caliber, try and figure that one, so of course I had to run out and get a new 357 Ruger Super Blackhawk, the cat sitings are getting quite commonplace, another reason my wife refuses to get in the stand with me

Not legal where I hunt in Ga. during archery season.  However, I do carry my .45 while bow hunting due to being a retired L.E.O.  I could possibly still be fined but, I'd rather take my chances than be unarmed and have a panther, etc. come after me while walking to or from my stand.  I had a panther come out to within 30 ft. of my stand last year so, now it has me concerned enough that I carry.
Retired after 34 yrs. on Jacksonville (Fl.) Police Dept.  19 yrs. in patrol and last 15 yrs. in C.S.I.
Now I can hunt and go bass fishing anytime I want!  Started deer hunting in 2007 but, had many years as a teen hunting rabbits and squirrels.
