Fawn that was still sticky
« on: May 30, 2009, 07:43:46 AM »
Was out fertilizing one of our switch grass and jumped a doe. I looked in her bed and there was twin fawns. They were so fresh that their was afterbirth still in the bed. The other one by the log was right by our gate on our way back home.

Great photos, I was out turkey hunting this morning with my youngest boy and we were busted by two does as we set up in our turkey field at daylight.  They wouldn't leave and kept snorting and stomping even after we set up and got settled in.  They hung around for about a half hour trying to get around us and use the wind to sniff us out, with no luck (thanks DDW!).  I think they had fawns in the tall grass nearby.  They eventually left, but I never saw the little ones, they had to be close!

It is always good to see the little ones in the spring!  Thanks again for the nice photos!

I actually had the video camera with me and got some great footage of me walking up to the twins but to get the photos I went back about 2 hours later after mom cleaned them off and snapped some shots. They were in the SW grass field all day. The other one by the log we were on our way home and right our gate we saw it laying there so we got out and took some picks.
