no luck this am in NY
« on: May 23, 2009, 02:47:31 PM »
Didn't have any luck this am in NY, was on wrong side of plowed lot...saw 8 gobblers and 6 hens in one bunch , wouldn't come in , switched areas, saw another 6 toms (mostly Jakes) disappeared on us....I guess better luck in the fall but I may squeeze in one more day and I know what side of the lot to be on now ;D

Hey DPD, had a great opening day in Morrisville. Took my old friend (72) that had a stroke and a bad car accident and put him in a pop up blind. Had two big long beards come in and we got them both. He was so pleased as he can not raise the gun by himself. I helped him hold the gun and moved it on his command and he smoked one. The next day, we had 13 toms (9 jakes and 4 long beards come in to our pretty boy decoy). this time he missed but it was sure a great two days.

In the catskills it seems all the hens are sitting.  Gobblers are responding but wont come in that last 60-70 yds.  Strangely, they are now travelling in gobbler groups.  I'm calling in pairs and three somes, go figure.
