I killed this one a while back. I think this may be a yote/domestic cross breed.

Ya he looks like a cross to me too. ???

actually ive killed two black yotes and seen/ got trail cam pics of two more. all of ours look like that. white patch under the front of chest and one ive killed had the white stockings.

We hunt coyotes and fox from the end of deer season (December) to the middle of March here in Upstate, New York. We also have a close network of other houndsmen that hunt fox and coyote very seriously. It is VERY rare to see a total black or total white coyote and when they do, the pelts are never given up. We have seen one black coyote in the last several years. Have you ever had the pleasure of hearing a pack of good hounds chasing coyotes. It is one of the most awesome sights and sounds you will ever see in the outdoors.

Saw my first one yesterday. I was bow hunting and it didn't come in close enough for a shot. It would have made a nice mount %^$^

My grandparents had a farm near Livingston, TX -used to hunt it a lot, as a young man. All the yotes I ever saw in those woods were black, had a lot of black squirrels too.   I wonder if it is a mineral thing, or diet maybe?         --09--0 @--0--0107
