FFL near Utica MI
« on: March 31, 2009, 08:21:33 PM »
I  bought a rifle from a private owner in WI and just found out that he can't ship it to me direct.  I guess I have to have someone with a FFL to receive it.  I'm told there are individuals who will do this (for a fee, of course).  Anybody close to Utica MI that does this or know of anybody my way?

go to www.gunbroker.com they have a search link to find a dealer near you.  of course they will charge a fee, but they have to pay for their license and the hassle of the ATF coming to visit on a regular basis.

Any gun shop can ship it to another gun shop, make arrangements with a gun dealer close to you and have them contact a dealer close to the seller, shouldn't have a problem. Most of the FFL dealers will take care of it for around 20 bucks or so, unless they don't like you...

The seller already has someone who will ship it.  Guess I'll go visit a couple local dealers/gunsmiths close to me and talk to them.  The fee is no problem, but I wonder if I bought a new scope from them at the same time if they'd be a bit more receptive?

I'm sure that they would be a lot more receptive although I doubt that you would have a problem even without buying the scope from them.

Just went to Gunbroker.com and found a list of ALL the FFLs that do transfers in the state of MI.  There's 3 of them within 5 miles or so from my house.  My wife saw the auction section and has banned me from the site.  Can she legally do that?
