even though it is getting harder and harder to get out hunting at 70 with a bad leg and back.  I get to go and sit in a blind with my grandson telling him about my hunts and how he can hunt as he is just learning.  It is great and I enjoy it.  I remember the days when I could hunt all day, walking miles and miles and dragging deer 1/2 mile to miles to the truck, sadly, those days are gone but they will be remembered in my grandson and my dreams.

I know the feeling, both knees are NOT trustworthy but at least they do not hurt.  Left hip is giving me problems now and it did not help hurting a big muscle in that hip.  Doctor gave me some pain killer for that and I can get out behind the house to hunt.  3rd oldest Grandson took my place in the stand Thanksgiving morning.  He got of work and drove an hour to get in my stand just before first light.  He stayed till 11:00 and came down to eat with us and his family then he took a 4 hour nap before going to his other grandparents.
At least I can still work my food plots and dream about big bucks and then see them on my trail cameras.

Hang in there, we are the same age.   -00-9  ##$%#1114   ##$%#116  ##$%#116  ##$%#116  ##$%#116

I'm barely in my 50's and i now cary my atv in the truck bed un case I need to drag one out. I also pass on a lot just because  its late and I dont feel like dealing with a dead deer. LOL

I wish I could find the pictue but one of my last hunts with my dad  i snapped a picture of him walking to his stand with his gun laid across the handles of a walker.  Nothing stopped that man. I hope I have the same fortitude when I hit that age.

Yes, it does get tougher as you get older.  Also, I've noticed that it takes longer to do the simple things you've always done.

Yep, but I'm going to keep getting out there as long as I can.  I'm afraid when I lose my drive to do that, I'll have lost my drive to do virtually everything.  Hang in there guys, as you've already figured out it's not about whether you shoot something anymore, just about being free and enjoying God's fantastic creation.

Bugfixer and I have started transitioning to more comfort. We went from the days of sitting for hours and hours in a lockon stand to building nice shooting houses with windows and heaters. It may not be as exciting but it does allow the old bones to sit in more comfort...

Funny how old worn out office chairs suddenly become comfy again when placed in a hunting blind.

I finally built an elevated blind (2' up), it's  4'x5'x6'. With two windows. I still need to make a door, and window shutters. The floor is kinda noisy, but I won't do anything about that till I can keep the weather out. I'm thinking of using an anti fatigue mat.
The roof is done, plywood covered with roofing felt and corrugated tin. I would post a pic but file is too large. Btw, all material was stuff I've been saving, except 6 2x4's I had to buy

Sounds great Louie - I've been considering building one as well.  I have a bunch of steel siding left over from the house project this summer, and a lot of the old cedar siding that I stripped off - could make a very cozy tight little shack.
