My newest project
« on: June 08, 2020, 07:11:56 PM »
As some of you know, I cast some of my bullets, so I decided to make a new melting pot, with some refinements. One is the ring around the base, for increased stability, the 2nd is the row of holes around the ring to promote better heat distribution. The pot is not completely finished yet, as it needs to have the base ring welded on. I just couldn't wait to show it off. After welding, it will get a new coat of heatproof paint. I won't be casting bullets directly out of it. It's main purpose is to melt "dirty" lead, to get rid of junk, dirt, etc and to alloy it into clean ingots, which eventually will become "boolits", suitable for plinking, or hunting.

Yes, Roger, it's a helium tank. Kinda thin, but it will last a long time. Been using one for 15 yrs, just doesn't have the base ring.
