Ruger® 10/22® Takedown Lite .22 LR Model 31117
« on: May 19, 2020, 06:09:13 AM »
Next month is our 50th wedding anniversary, Father's Day and my next decade Birthday.

My Beautiful Bride has told me to get another gun.

Do not really need any new guns, yes I am a bit SICK.   @--0--0105

Have always wanted a Ruger 10/22.  Looking at the Model 31117

Any thoughts?   ##$%#1119

PJ - that is great news!!! be sure to put a good low power scope on it and be sure to get some extra magazines for it....but you can trick out a 10/22...the sky is the limit with them....

That's is great news and congrats on you new bride for me...LOL

Love the 10/22s, I wonder how many bajillions of those Ruger has pushed out the door.  The only thing I'd like to see them change out is that goofy bolt hold open latch they use, it isn't as simple and intuitive as it oughta be.  Overall though a very fine little piece of gear.

PJ - if you intend to shoot it a lot, particularly with hotter loads like Stingers, one of the first (and cheapest) additions I'd make to it is one of those little elastomer bolt buffers.  They take about two minutes to install and are apparently a great investment to avoid a lot of wear and tear on the back of the bolt and the stop pin.  I put one in mine right away, didn't really shoot it before that to get a feel for whether it sounded quieter or anything like that.  Maybe on the newer guns they've already eliminated that metal to metal impact point.

ruger makes a great rifle. I have a m-77 in .270 and it shoot dimes. the only issue I had was the trigger/pin misfieres. they sent out a fix-it kit and it's been great since.

I wonder why I don't own more rugers? it was my first rifle. I normally stick w/ what works. very odd

Oh yeah - suppressors - another one of those useful things we can't have in Illinois.

I have quite a few Rugers, kinda losing track.  I think I have three pistols and three of their rifles.  Tempted to pick up one of their tried and true semi auto rimfire pistols yet, I think that would be a great little gun for my wifey to shoot.

I remember years ago you would see  used 10/22's for dale for $35 quite often. Unfortunately, by the time I decided to try to pick one up, they seemed to disappear.

Yep, and brand new ones for 120.  Should have invested in a truckload of them!
