doesn't look like much fun. a 30-06 has 20-30fp of recoil

Wow - that's a beast.  No thanks.  That second shooter looked like he had the butt way down low, I bet he has some road rash at a minimum.

there is a video of a 50BMG deer hunting. the guy tries to head shoot the deer and misses, but the 'percussion' kills the deer as the bullet passes by. AMAZING

I don't doubt that Yari - I shot a friend's .50 BMG out here last year, and that shock wave is really something.
