“Social Distancing”? aka “Snow bound on a mountain top”!

I sure hope you all are going well. I know it’s been a while since I was active. Just able to drop in and do some post reading.

Mrs. DH and I travelled up to our new to us Montana cabin in mid-February. We purchased the place last September. Our closest resident neighbor is 7 miles away. He used his truck with a mounted snow blower to get us in. Our driveway resembles a ski slope most of the winter. I put chains on all four tires and successfully hauled the cargo trailer filled with our supplies and my gun equipment. (One must have priorities you know.) No cell service so the occasional sat phone call to check in with family is our only means of communication for now. The plan is to have a satellite dish with internet installed next month before we head back to Three Forks for the summer. We were able to make it down a couple of times via snowmobile until this past Wednesday. Now the driveway and roads are in pretty good 4X4 vehicle shape. We go to Seeley Lake for supplies and communication. Missoula is our closest big town. Elevation at the cabin is 8745. We’re on a southern slope of the summit. The cabin site is a 6 acre meadow and is pretty flat. The rest of the 20 acre property is not so flat. The drop from our deck railing is 3500 feet. The views are incredible. I watched 2 avalanches occur below us as the snow began to rot with the warmer temps. We are off grid relying on solar for power. Again surrendering to ones priorities I managed to put up a temporary rifle range so I could wind up a few projects. The maximum length is 350 yards. The next step is ginormous and would hurt. It’s very difficult to have calm winds for load testing. I did get the 2 WSSM projects done and let the talk. I’ll file the full report in the firearms section in a short time.

Three of the pics I’ve attached were from last fall when we purchased the property. The one with the snowy road was from today’s drive to town.

Good to hear from you sir, sounds like things are good on your end?  I'm pretty jealous of that Montana setting, it's just a little nicer looking than Illinois.  (Understatement)

Good hearing from you DH, those are some views you have there. However, I do believe you have taken the social distancing to a whole new level.  --099-780 Keep in touch and stay safe out there.

If you want to build a guest house I would be more than happy to some out and run a snowblower for 8 hours a day.  @--0--0125  --099-780 --099-780

Dutch   very nice area. My 1st Elk hunt was near Seeley Lake in the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area. We spent a night in Seeley playing pool and quenching our thirst. Congrats.
