2020 Trout Season is Open
« on: April 09, 2020, 09:12:26 AM »
The PA Fish and Boat Commission decided to open the season 11 days early due to the Covid19 crises that has been taking over the country with everything being closed and self quarantine, stay home crap. They didn't want to have all the lakes and streams over crowded on the 18th which was the scheduled opening day in PA. They made the decision in the middle of the night and made it public the morning of April 7th with the opening time of 8am. It was a surprise to all anglers in the state and caused quite an uproar for a lot of them. Not me, I grabbed the rod and reel and headed to my favorite lake at our sportsmens club. It wasn't crowded at all with only about anglers. The state daily limit is 5 trout over 7 inches in length, the club rule is you can only keep 3 daily. I caught 5 in a couple hours and only kept one which was the largest rainbow trout that I have ever caught in my 60 odd years of fishing. It was 23" and weighed in at 8 pounds. I was using 5' 5" Ultra Light Ugly Stick with a Shamano Reel and 4 LB test monofilament line, and a TomBob scent impregnated lure. It was an exciting fight to say the least and took a lot of patients.  ##$%#1115  ^^&&$%GT

Holy smokes what a monster!  Big congrats Gutshot on a beautiful fish.  I can only imagine how slowly you had to entice him toward your net....
