Short Shotgun Shells
« on: March 15, 2020, 10:14:29 AM »
Every since Aguila cameout with the short shotgun shells, I have always had an interest in them.....sales must be good, because Federal has come out with them as well....I also understand that you need an adapter (OPSol Texas MINICLIP Mini-Clip) for you Mossberg or Remington. For the home defense this (short shotgun shells) is all you need. If you have a 12 gauge this is great ammo to invest in.....and a Mossberg 500 and the Remington 870 and OPSol adapter and ammo is the ticket for good home defense....

Would love to hear your thoughts on this as well. Do you think a pistol (either semi or a wheel) or a pump shotgun would be effective in home defense......

They would be good if you live in an apartment.  Otherwise give a 3" mag

A short shotgun is not a bad choice in the home defense realm, close quarters is a good place to apply those short shells IF AND ONLY IF you have a shotgun that will reliably handle them.

The Tarus Judge with .410 defender shells and/or 00 buckshot is my home defense firearm, both rounds are devastating 30 yards which is far more than is required in the house, IMO

Guys I own 3 Judges and a S&W Governor....all shot either the 45 Colt or the 410 shotgun shell....my Judges and scattered all over the house just in case and one is not to far at my reach at any given time.....

Also have replace my CCI shot shell with the CCI big 4 shot shells.....basically they have replaced the #12 shot with #4 shot!! not as many shot but now at least they can penetrate a perpetrator!! I have a few 357 mags with those #4 in them as well......

I like a shotgun myself any gauge will do. I have my folding stock 870 with 8 shells in it ready in the bedroom. I am going to check out these short shells and see how they run in it. I have a Glock 19 that is like a lot and of course the Old Ruger Blackhawk in .44 mag using frangible ammo just in case.

BT, from what I understand, the standard action in an 870 doesn't like the short shells.  Don't recall if there's a rework available for it or not (I expect so)
