Picked up a new savage 10 today in 308. Found it in the used rack but it looks like new.

I built an AR10 a while back but this is my first 308 bolt gun.  Looking forward to some range time.

Congrats! I have some once fired brass, if you plan to reload.

MI- Nice rifle. I am a big 308 and a Savage fan....please let all of us know what bullet it likes? either the 165/168 or the 150/155 gn bullet.....what glass do you plan on putting on top of it??

Yea, I know all my Savages are shooters and have many 308's from a $300 LE1 to a about $4750 Custom Cooper, all are shooters for sure....

Am also looking at getting a 35 Rem in a bolt rifle and a another 243....besides the Savage 220.....

Bo

1-18-2020 - Last night after getting off of Talk Hunting, went and counted all my Savages.....purchased 8 of the 10 new and 2 new to me rifle...all of which are shooters!! Love them all.....

Bo

Bo, still not sure on the glass.  My go to is a Bushnell 3-9 but debating whether to try something different with this one.  I really so not have a place to shoot much beyond 100 yards so I rarely ever get to utilize the potential of the gun or more expensive optics.

MI - there is nothing wrong with a Bushnell, especially the higher ones!! I have a couple of Bushnell mounted and they seemed OK to me....one is on my CVA Accura II Muzzle loader and it shoots probably the best about a 1.5 inch groups (2 shots) at 100 yards....and one Bushnell Elite 5-30X on my 338 Lapua....and it shoot dime groups at 200 yards!! I was impress with the scopes so far.....

You many want to take a look while you are looking at Vortex, they have a similar guarantee to Leupold....I just picked me up a 2.5-10X Vortex Viper for the new Mossberg 6.5 PRC...have not taken it to the range yet, but shortly will do.....the Vortex was marked down from Midway from $400 to $250 so I could not turn it down, got it late last year.....

I have well over a dozen Vortex products. About a dozen Vortex Crossfire II, and about 6 the Viper scopes and binoculars and a one Razor spotting scope...all have performed up to my standards and they are priced good too, you have to look at different retailers continuously to find the right product for a reduced price.....I think the Diamondback Line will replace the Crossfire II line....it beginning to look that way......

Let us all know what you end up with.......Bo

MI - What scope did you put on you new to me Savage?, like most 308's they won't kick like a mule would...so you can go with about any scope you want to? a good Vortex Crossfire II or a Nikon (should be able to get some good deals since they are not longer in the scope business!) or maybe the old standard Leupold VX2 3-9X x 40mm!!

And what ammo did you settle in on....the 150 or 165/168 gn or heavier bullets??

Finally got the scope mounted and shot her.  The scope is a PrimaryArms 4-14 ffp model.
