rut???????????????
« on: November 08, 2019, 05:52:47 PM »
I hope everyone is doing better than me. this has to be the slowest rut I've ever seen. last weekend I saw zero deer in 3 days up north. this week has been 2 does and a fawn all week. I did have a beautiful red fox under me today. that was it. the odd thing is the temps have been 10-20 degrees below normal. it should be perfect

I post this in hopes my crabbing will change my luck.  --099-780 sometimes if I crab my luck changes. i'll be hitting it hard this weekend. heading to SD thurs morning.

good luck

Stick with it Yari, I've had dry spells like that before.  Seems a little too early for them to be on lockdown.  Don't know if you are typically an all day guy or not, but if you have the right wind and can get in close to bedding areas, mid-day might be productive.

Good Luck yari, never give up and stay warm. It's going to happen, stay positive and don't be a crab, be like Bearclaw.  @--0--0133

Our gun season starts 11/22 here this year, a bit later than normal so I'm hoping the first round of breeding is mostly done and the boys are actively out looking for love rather than bedding down with a doe all day.  Will be a little iffy for us due to the high water we've had down there most of the year - but I suspect if we can get to the woods there's still a decent chance to catch a buck cruising up & down the thin band of woods that lies between the river & the fields.  Fields though are nothing but mud & weeds, there were no crops in this year.

Around here though they've been running day & night to get the corn and beans out and probably 75% clear.  2 Weeks ago they barely had 10% out.  Still have a doe archery tag to fill and will have a smokepole tag for up here too (either sex) so still hoping to get out more.

My buddy called from Pa this weekend and said the bucks were walking around all day on Friday grunting. the does were not ready but he said with all the grunts it was like elk walking a bugling. he said he saw 8 different shooters but could not get a shot.As for around here they are moving and it will not be long.

Good luck out there Yari.

I know this is kind of personal - but have you been showering lately?  Too much of that Italian food might be coming through the airwaves.    ##$%#13 @--0--0101

Yari our rifle season opened on 11/09 and the bucks were chasing steady. On 11/13 I sat 10 hrs and saw 14 deer. 9 were bucks. The biggest was a 140 inch 10 point. The last couple days the weather warmed up and it was windy. The deer sightings went way down and the bucks were still looking but didn't see any with does the last 4 days or so.

Only the scrawny spike has been showing up. Not even a matched set , real thin and spindly, mismatched length
