It's on
« on: November 05, 2019, 09:07:27 PM »
The rut is getting underway here in Central IL.  Last Friday when I took that buck with my crossbow, he came in alone but had his neck all swollen up and he had been exercising those tarsal glands already and busted a tine fighting.  He worked a scrape as he came in.  Tonight out behind the house I saw a small buck attempting to corner a nice big doe - needless to say she wasn't having anything to do with it.  A second small buck was back there and would occasionally look at them but he seemed perfectly happy to be chowing down in my food plot rather than wasting his energy on that lady.  Go get 'em guys.
One of God's greatest gifts to us is
the great outdoors - get out there
and enjoy it!

Things are starting to heat up here also, the roadways are starting to look like a slaughter house. I saw a really nice big racked buck laying on the side of the interstate yesterday just a few miles from the house. Slow down and keep your eyes open while driving and when on stand it can happen in a heartbeat, you got to be ready.
