Coffee Break Mistake
« on: October 05, 2019, 12:24:11 PM »
Went out this morning in search of a doe. Temps were 42 and great! My recent camera pics showed no deer during daylight hours and only a few during the night. When daylight came, nothing came in as they usually do. So around 8 I decide to take a short break and get some coffee from my thermos. As soon as I finish pouring and take a little sip, well, here they come! My mask is down and the crossbow is on the hangar. Two small does (fawn graduates) and mom. I am sitting with my cup squeezed between my legs and wondering how to get the bow down and cover my face. I decide I won't take mom with the small fawns and decide to sit them out and then get ready again. Well, here comes two more small does and a larger one, the one I was actually looking for. One of these three looks up at me and I have my camoflauged hand across my face because my mask is still down. She doesn't snort or bolt, but not sure what's up there. The original three finally leave, taking these three with them, never to return! Now the coffee break doesn't seem like it was a good idea. I will return and hopefully, they will as well. Both sets of deer have been regular at the stand. It was still a good morning in the woods!

Good thing you weren't hunting PA, the deer up here would have come over and drank your coffee, ate you snacks and left you standing in the rain.  --099-780 Maybe you should put the coffee in a camelback? Just kidding - I'm sure you will have many more opportunities soon.

Good Luck

Leave a cup for them at the base of the tree next time.  They're just offended that you didn't share.
