Killers, not hunters. Th word hunter holds a high degree of ethics, sportsmanship and following the laws in my mind. I don't know the details in this case but one thing I know for sure, I or you, do not look like a deer. When you start shooting at anything that moves because you think it is a deer, this is the result. And those that shoot rifles and claim bow kills, yes, you can boast of your skills as an archer but what an extremely hollow lie you tell. Not sure how you sleep at night.

With the overlap of archery and muzzleloader season from Oct 19 to 26th archery hunters can also carry a muzzleloader with them in the woods as long as they posses a muzzleloader licenses and an archery licenses. I can see some wrong doings here with some less than ethical hunters. JMO

On the other hand, some of those same folks are more than likely the cause of a lot of poaching around here? Again JMO

It sure helped keeping those text messages on your phone. I tend to erase them after a bit just to keep the phone clear. If anything involves a hunting situation like that, I will remember not to erase them just o have some additional evidence! Congrats on the deer! Pictures and stories?

Yeah, lots of things were done wrong in that situation.  But also with the budget cuts impacting enforcement resources, check in stations, etc, it's pretty easy for the dishonest folks to abuse the system.  We don't have any check stations in IL anymore, and I'm sure a lot of scum are ignoring the "2 buck limit" and checking in "does" despite shooting anything they see.

In South GA it is real thick I am sure you can not see but a few feet.  Just describing the terrain.  But there is no excuse.  Not identifying your target prior to pulling the trigger.  We all know what it means to shoot deer and the excitement involved.  I am sure we all have not shot because we knew it was not safe.  Education. Education, Education, Education.  The main ingredient that should be required for everyone who handles a firearm.  Then there is this kid who was hunting illegally.  Using a gun during bow season.  He could not wait just a couple of weeks, and now a murder.  How sad.
