New Centerpoint crossbow
« on: August 19, 2019, 09:19:34 PM »
I just picked up a new crossbow, a Centerpoint Sniper 370.  Its made by crossman and I picked it up on Amazon for about $230.  I have to say this bow is pretty nice for the price.

Pros:  preyy fast, feels very solid on a matal rail. Has build in decocking lever (just deactivates at ADF). Accepts AR style stocks.

Cons. A little heavy, the stock stock is loose and noisy. The trigger has a bit of creep.

I replaced.the factory scope with a Trophy Ridge I had in my stash and upgraded the stock to a Fab Defense with adjustable cheak rest

Good stuff there MIB.  But you better start aiming at different bulls on each shot or you'll be buying a bunch of new shafts!  Pretty good performance for not much money.

My Horton has a little metallic "tink" to it but overall pretty darn quiet.  I think it's in the trigger mechanism.  Inside about 30 yards I don't think a deer would have a chance to react to it.

Keep us posted on what you settle on for broadheads (for turkey).  I've been using Grim Reapers with great success on deer but was wondering if there was a better choice for turkey.  After reading lots of reviews & recommendations & getting my head to stop spinning, I settled on taking body shots with my current heads if I do end up doing some turkey hunting with my X-bow.

Mad,  going to try some Swhackers, 2 and 3 blade.

I've had excellent results with Grim Reapers as well but for some reason am always compelled to try new stuff.

A fellow turkey hunter recommended Swhackers for turkey.  He said he uses them because he had to many shots that did not perform well after using the blades up to cut through the thick feathers.    That makes sense.

That said I shot a turkey with a Ramcat fixed blade a few years back and got a complete pass through.  The arrow was just laying past the bird as it expended a lot of energy.  Pushing through.

I am trying the three blade version just because I am still not cometely sold on two blade blood trails; they just do not seem to be as consistant as the 3 blades...per my exp.   I'll play with the Swhackers this weeknd and see how they fly.  If they group well, I try them on deer/turkey this fall.  If not I always have the Grim Reapers to fall back on.
