Thermacell review
« on: July 05, 2019, 11:48:53 AM »
How many remember the pink camo thermacell I posted a couple of years ago? It 's been setting on my shelf, unused until yesterday. We were invited to 4th of July picnic and I decided to take it and try it out, since we had problems with mosquitos at that location before.  I lit it and set it on a picnic table, warning the adults to keep an eye on the children, as the unit can get hot. About 4hrs later we left, as we had our pup with us and she was getting a bit too excited.  My nephew texted me this morning and said the consensus was that the thermacell worked way better than the mosquito shield that had been previously applied. After we left, the mosquitos just swarmed them. I'm glad I bought it and brought it to the picnic. Based on a one time use, I'm very happy with it.

I agree with most everyone here...my Thermacell is almost the first thing I put in my day bag beside toilet paper. As Split Toe says, you cannot hunt in the South during Archery or Turkey season without one.....

Yari - That is so funny.  Down here in the South, during the Dog Days of Sept and you are hunting during the hot and sticky and humid high 80 temps of GA during Archery Season, you make sure that yours is in working order and that you have plenty or refills handy....I have two Thermacells (they both work) and plenty of refills available, I think I have 4 boxes of refills and for a change, I know where all of them are at....

Cannot believe how good they work but if it is windy, I will not use mine, just in case the wind stops or something else is happening, maybe get an Ozonics this year??

I have one as well that's never been used. We start hunting season in early September and it's usually cool enough that we don't need one. Always thought I would use it during spring gobbler season but usually windy In April through mid-May don't have a lot of bugs. I have heard good things about them and may try it again this year!

I use mine on a daily basis here at Missouri Headwaters State Park. There’s acres of river bottom marsh land. Mosquitoes are the primary complaint. With a thermocell in use all you hear is the buzzing without the biting. Early morning walks moose viewing are possible. Saw a cow with twins a morning ago. Last week I came up on a mature bull munching on marsh willows. Bottom line is these morning walks would not be possible without my “belt buddy”!

Good Idea Dutch - A belt buddy...than is a great idea.....most of the time I just throw it in my day bag and take it with me and do the start up of it in the ladder stand of blind, but I guess when you are stalking a good belt buddy would be a very good idea...thanks.....

I have several versions of Thermacell devices. I have always been an advocate. So much better than spays.

They just came out with Tick Tubes. You space them out on your property to keep ticks at bay!

The tick tubes are a great idea if you ask me. I need to see a price you may be able to make them yourself.
