Fawn Leg
« on: May 19, 2019, 12:14:28 PM »
I was in my backyard this morning and right next to the shed I found the two lower sections of a fawn leg. No other parts around. It was pretty fresh too. Unfortunately I took in my trail cameras a while back so not sure what nailed the fawn or where the rest of it may be.

the cold wet spring we are having is going to be very hard on the fawns. I read that as little as 1" of rain can kill a lot of fawns. we had 1" last week and over an inch both days this weekend. plus, 30-40's depending where you are. poor things will freeze in this weather

Yep, tough on the wild critters and the domestic ones too.  Spoke with a couple farmers last weekend that are having issues with calves due to the cold wet weather that keeps hanging on this spring.

I once found a dead fawn about 50 yds behind the house. I suspect it got hit by a car, crawled off and died. It hadn't been touched at all. I dragged it odf even farther to the back of my property and eventually the coyotes found it.

I just had a doe walk up the driveway. man did her milk come in. I've never seen a doe hanging so low. my wife thought it was a big tumor, but it wasn't.

I hope the fawn is still on the way. 2 1/2" of rain and 30-40's this weekend. tomorrow is supposed to be 1" and cold and windy. she didn't look fat though, so i'm guessing she dropped

it would be fun if she raised it here @--0--0131
