Day 1
« on: April 07, 2019, 07:27:10 AM »
I took my grandson, Jake, on his first turkey hunt yesterday morning and Bugfixer took his daughter Caroline. We all heard birds but didnt connect. That afternoon he took his son, Kyle, and I took Caroline. Again, we heard birds and saw some hens but didnt connect. Rain today so no one wanted to hunt. Youth weekend went well. Regular season starts next Saturday.

Always nice to hit the woods. If the birds are there it's just a matter of time...good luck!

Just listening to the birds sound off is still exciting for the youngsters I'm sure. Better luck next time, patients and luck will prevail. Good luck on the opener.  ##$%#1118

I'm heading south here shortly for a few days of chasing gobblers.  My normal hunting grounds are under about 15' of Mississippi river, but bro in law has permission to a place up in the bluffs - always fun to try new places but challenging too if you don't know the birds' routines & the lay of the land.

Always exciting hearing the gobbling in the woods! I'm sure it was great just being there! Good luck with the rest of the season!
