Hey, not all of the noodling guys are nuts!  We used to do some of that when I was a kid, although had relatively small catfish and only rarely a cottonmouth.

Mad, we are generally on the same page, but I have to say I'm with yari and Split Toe when it comes to noodling.  I've had several offers to go including one with the game warden, but I just don't have the nerve.  See pics below from last year....

Those cats are at least 10x of anything we had to pursue.  The small lake I grew up on would nearly dry up during a drought and the fish were going to die anyway, so we would go wade in the deeper pockets and grab what we could.  Bottom was muck, occasionally you'd step on a turtle in the muck, if it was a big one you knew it was a snapper, they weren't too hard to get a handle on when buried but tough to lug out of there.

I was hoping they would. they are prehistoric critters and aren't easily replaced
