Red,
Just about any of them will work, but if you are looking an excuse for a new gun go with the light smaller Cal's.  Loads will be cheaper.  Match your Cal to distant you plan on shooting.    --9-8-7

That is the best piece of advice I've heard PJ.  Red it really depends on what you want to do with the yote once you shoot it and like PJ said, match it to the distances your hunting.  Mount, fur sale, disposal, etc....  I shot mine with a .22 mag at well over 100 yards, I also have a .22 hornet I bought specifically for yote hunting and I'm on the verge of having a .17HMR for yotes now also.  The .22 hornet was feeling lonely so he needed a little .17HMR brother to tag along with!  @--0--0123

I'd have to say stick with the smaller calibers, So much depends on where you hunt them and the range you shot as well as what you are going to do with the coyotes afterwards. If you are planning on selling the hides than you do not want to make a big hole in it

I am particularly fond of one that shoots where I aim it and that I am comfortable shooting. Beyond that, the question of caliber becomes really really confusiing cause everyone has a favorite.

I can verify my 45-70 marlin lever will kill them dead he didnt limp off this morning after chasing my calves, 150-175 yard shot, but I can also say that it put a hole through him that you could put another yote in, so hide hunters need not use this one. -0078 @--0--0138

.223 is the way to go, long distance accuracy, flat shooting and quick. I shot one last fall with a .50 cal TC Omega. The 300 grain bullet didn't make tooooooooo big a exit hole.
You would have a real problem to get that one mounted I bet . Have to look for a hide transplant .  --099-780
I just talked to the taxidermist, it will be ready in about a week. I'll post the pictures when I get it home. It actually didn't hurt the hide at all, I think the muzzle blast killed it  --099-780

When it comes down to any gun will kill a yote.  If you have a large caliber and you like to shoot it, and you don't care about the hide use it.  With that said I think the ultimate varmint caliber is the 22-250.  I really love shooting my 17 fireball though, hopefully this year it will get a coyote under its belt.

.17 HMR is a good caliber, too.  Shoots extremely fast and flat out to about 300 yds.
Retired after 34 yrs. on Jacksonville (Fl.) Police Dept.  19 yrs. in patrol and last 15 yrs. in C.S.I.
Now I can hunt and go bass fishing anytime I want!  Started deer hunting in 2007 but, had many years as a teen hunting rabbits and squirrels.
