The Late Season
« on: January 11, 2019, 06:58:43 AM »
I'm going to give it one more try this weekend with the flintlock. The temps have dropped below 20 degrees and we have about 2" of snow on the ground. Heading to camp this morning and meeting up with 7 others who still have tags left. I'll give you all an update when I return home after the weekend. Safe hunting to everyone still trying.  @--0--0101

Good luck, keep your powder dry!  I still have two more weekends for archery season.  Supposed to get some snow tonight/tomorrow, hoping to get a hunt in tomorrow afternoon.  Also hoping the snow will improve my odds on the yotes.

Good luck! So cold here I have the fireplace going!

One month to season left but I will let it go. My knee is killing me.

I hope you get a big late season buck!

Well guys and gals, it was a great weekend with some good friends toting the smoke poles around the big woods. We put on several drives and saw several deer. The end results were two misfires, flashpan burners only and one deer down. It was the best shot ever, the deer was running straight towards my buddy Ryan and the round ball hit the deer square between the eyes and she hit the ground 8 yards in front of him. it was an exciting day of fellowship, fun and laughing in the field and a lot of ribbing around the meat pole during the butchering process. This past weekend has officially ended our PA deer season and all I can think about now is the upcoming turkey season and putting a few fish in the freezer again. With all that being said, this Friday will require a road trip to Cabela's for a well deserved shopping spree for Bearclaw and myself and possibly DLR if all goes well.
