Anyone looking forward to the spring turkey season?
« on: January 03, 2019, 12:11:20 PM »
Our late doe season ended last Tuesday, and yes I was disappointed I was not able to fill my doe tag.  But then, I got to thinking about the spring turkeu season coming up next April.  What a great time to be in the woods!  New growth coming up, but not too thick to see  clearly through the underbrush. Not having to deal with deep snow, and most of the time, not having to deal with a lot of bugs either.  Can anyone relate to all that?  Just writing about it makes me look forward to the spring hunt even more.

I'm ready Louie, finally got on our DNR website over the weekend to get my permit application in.  Missed first lottery deadline but still should be good for a first season tag.  Saw a lot of birds during deer season, hope they stick around.

I lost my spot when my buddy died and his wife sold the NJ 89 acres I hunted turkeys on his land. @--0--0126

A guy at work offered for me to come to his place upstate NY. I took that offer up in a heartbeat. I will be dropping some nice cuts of venison to him at work next week. He was excited about that.

Not sure cost, licenses needs by zone or other issues on hunting his family land.

They know I am hard core hunter so they will look for me to give them pointers as they have not, to my knowledge, hunted the turkeys on their land.

Any opportunity to hunt birds on private land is worth jumping on Flint, and teaching them the ways of the wily Tom is a small price to pay for that opportunity, good luck with that.

Flint, I hunt upstate NY great turkeys up here, they were down a little but are coming back full swing..need out of state hunting then turkey permit, can get them at walmart or gun shop wherever they sell licenses..price is on NYSDEC website, don't know exactly...hunting license or hunter safety certificate required if its your first time, if not, you are in the system from other purchases...if your a resident you just need to get those licenses cheaper ;D

I can't wait for Spring turkey season! I am already getting my calls out and practicing! If you see me in my car and my mouth is making unusual movements, a quick roll down of the window will allow you to hear some turkey diaphragm calls! I am VERY excited about turkey season!

I'm excited to get after those turkey, but our season seems a long way off. In Pa it doesn't start until May and most of you have already been out killing it, some as early as March. All I can do is sit here and look at all of your pictures. Good luck to all of you.

Our winter turkey season starts tomorrow through Saturday. Hen or gobbler if you didn't get one in the fall. Still can take two in the spring if a fall bird wasn't harvested. Friday I will be in almost heaven, not West Virginia but sort us. Cabela's in Wheeling, WV!

I'm pumped and ready.  Been hearing/seeing turkeys at nearly every outing.
