A sad tale that ends well, glad the young lady was able to finish the job!  Also have to say, what a fine buck!
The fellers who were apprehended need to become an example for the rest of the community and have to pay the price, what ever it might be for trespassing.
When I was a young feller, there were places you just didn't go because the land owners would prosecute.  If caught and arrested trespassing you might go to jail, as simple as that, then after being bailed out, it was treated like any other criminal violation, one could plead guilty before the judge and pay the fine or go the route of trial by jury.  In Florida, if convicted of armed trespass, it is now a felony punishable by up to 5 years and/or a fine up to $5,000.  That should make folks think!
All the above kept most of my acquaintances out of somebody else's pasture.  Florida has boomed in population to the point where there is almost no open, private land, hunters can utilize the almost 6 million acres available in Wildlife Management Areas, become a member of a hunt club on lease property or own their own property.
Realizing rogues have taken advantage of all the work one does to develop a hunting property tends to aggravate the owners or lease holders.
