Upgrading my electroics on my boat
« on: December 06, 2018, 09:02:33 PM »
I've been wanting to upgrade my electronics for a few years now. Depth finders now have some unbelievable technology so back in July Bass Pro had the Lowrance Elite TI 9 bundle on sale and included the Navionics and C Map. In November I bought The Lowrance Hook2 5 Split shot bundle for the front of the boat. Metalman, Jap51 and myself put in a full days work getting the job done on a cold day. The boat is located in my basement so the weather was no issue. I've still got to mount the total scan transducer on the back of the boat. Metalman did a great job cutting a new dash plate as we had to change out the old one to make things fit on the front.

I bought a hummingbird helix a few years back. I couldn't be happier. i'm thinking about adding another to the front of the boat

let us know what you think of Lowrance. I had an update/malfunction with them and they didn't stand by their product. I hope you never have that problem. I have friends that love them

I had a Ranger boat that I bought from a Hummingbird rep back in the 80's and it was loaded with all the bells and whistles. It had a paper graft that was amazing but cost a lot to run it with paper. My next boat had Lowrance equipment on it and was pleased with it. It's taken me several years to make up my mind as I was leaning towards the Helix line. They both have there pro and cons but after taking my time and doing my research I went with Lowrance. Hopefully I can start getting on the water in mid to late January. I'll let you know how things go.

I remember the old paper graphs. we used them on Lake MI for salmon fishing. I wonder if the ink is still good enough to read the graphs. we had some days that the graph was full of salmon. they were fun

i'm sure you will enjoy it. they are amazing

I switched from the Hummingbird to Lowrance about 5 years on my Tracker and it was the best move I did with the boat. Now I have nothing as I sold the boat this past August and the Lowrance was the deal closer. I'm still debating on getting another boat or just going south and fishing with Splittoe.  --099-780
