Maybe a slow hover about 100' off the ice would blow a path clear so they could get some vehicles out there?   ##$%#112
A couple of Chinooks from the Army Guard unit could probably do them a lot of good!

Well the first annual Talk Hunting Ice Palooza event has come to a successful close (caught some fish, had a ton of laughs, didn't fall through the ice, and everyone got home safe - I'd call that a success)!   Will try to shrink a couple of photos and post this evening.  Scoutmaster Yari bravely guided the two newbies (me & Hunt Master) through the ordeal - who knew you could pull fish up through 36" of ice?  It was a very religious event too - - one of us who shall remain nameless praying heavily that God would let him die, the other two praying heavily that we didn't catch whatever form of Montezuma's revenge he had.  Might have been that ten pound plate of loaded hash browns he had on the drive up there on Saturday??

Was a great time - we need to do more of those.

well summarized. i'm glad you guys weren't bored stiff. ice fishing can get long if the action slows. I just wish the fish were bigger. we did well with the hand we were dealt. i'm catching grief for not bringing fish home even though I have 5-6 meals in the freezer.  @--0--0117 @--0--0117 mamma just likes to needle me I guess --099-780

Glad to hear that everyone had a COOL time. If you can't have a good time with lots of laughs with the great folks from TH then you are hanging out on the wrong forum. I can't wait for the Walleye Blast coming up in April, it's always a great time and we don't have to worry about falling through the ice.  --099-780  ##$#@#$% ##$#@#$%

don't let them pull your chain. there was 36" of ice. I think the guy we rented from said that would hold several tons. plenty for my big old butt @--0--0105

Yeah, Rod was telling us that at 36" of ice he was good for something like 140,000 pounds of load, so even with his 25,000 pound Cat D5 (music to my ears) he has mucho margin.  Here's some pictures.  Had a couple of gorgeous sunsets, plenty of fish stories from Robert (that last one that got away was THIS BIG), our pile of walleye and sauger that became dinner Sunday night (and Monday), and an exterior view of our home away from home.

Good deal fellas.  I knew the trip was coming up soon just didn't know when.  Glad everyone had a great time.  It sure looks like a nicer cabin than I had envisioned.

OK... yeah... I spent one night puking my guts out... but who better to share that with than MG and Yari?

Always good to finally meet long time TH members... never met a bad one. The fishing was a little slow but we all had stories none of the others had heard so there was never a dull moment. Would absolutely do it again!

And im sure all of our wives were happy that no one was an ax murderer!

Its funny that we all hear that same story from our wives before we go on one of these adventures...  Who uses an ax anymore anyway?

Wasn't thinking - should have shown up at your house Saturday morning with an axe hanging in my belt.   --099-780

That was one of the warden's first comments when I got home - "glad to see they didn't chop you up in little bitty pieces and shove you down the hole"     I told her there was a time that we thought we might need to do that with Robert . . .
