WI opening day
« on: November 17, 2018, 05:53:24 PM »
I heard 1 shot all day --7-8-9 --7-8-9 --7-8-9 wow was it quite. it was in the teens and a NW wind 15mph in my face until 11:00. then it got better. 6AM until 5PM in a portable got a little rough, but you can't shoot them unless you are out there.

I saw several does and fawns. I had a hot doe being dogged by 3 buck fawns for 45 minutes --099-780 --099-780 not a big dude around. at 12:30 I saw my first antlers. a small 6. at 4:00 I had a different 6 pestering a doe

it was a fun day. I hope there are better reports to come from me and others

Sounds like fun , I watched a doe with her fawn doing something I haven't seen before , she was standing on her back legs and checking out a scrape branch . She was 300 yards away , later some spooked her and she and her fawn came across the field and end up 59 yards in front of me for about 5 minutes then later the cousin kicked them up again and this time they hauled $#@ across the field , also saw a doe 30 minutes into the day .  ##$%#1118

Found out the property that surrounds me, had been rented and the guy is hunting it.  That explains  all the shooting coming from different directions than the usual. Yesterday afternoon, about 4 pm, there were about 10 shots, with long pauses in between.  I think someone may have been trying to sight in a gun or check zero.

A bad day in the woods is still better than watching tv on the couch! Besides, there really isn't a bad day in the woods! Keep at it!

Yari - my experience this weekend is similar to yours, didn't see anything but little stuff.  I know there are a couple of shooters out there, guessing they may have been on lockdown.  Was good to be in the woods, but the mud was a serious challenge - had my fingers crossed every time I had to run across the field in my ATV, it needs a serious bath right now, probably carrying an extra 200 pounds in mud at the moment.
One of God's greatest gifts to us is
the great outdoors - get out there
and enjoy it!
