Light rain here today, too.  Deer were not moving, sat for 3 hrs and all I saw was a bunch of bluejays and two squirrels.  Looked out the window just half hour after I got home, and there were two does going into the woods north of me.  A while later, the smaller of the two was feeding along the fence  on the north side.  Kept looking for the bigger one, but she never showed up.

So, i got out to my stand around 2pm.
20 minutes later my neighbor had some landscapers show up with back packs to blow leaves.
Over 2 hours so I gave up and went home.
By the way, I offered to do his leaves, gratis, if he would help me get my Cyclone Rake set up on my Tractor. Due to the chill it takes 2 guys to pull the bagger into the intake cute.
He went past go, paid them whatever when my machine could get his property done in less than ½ the time and we could dump the shredded leaves in the woods vs. hired help dimping uncut leaves at the stree, and free vs. what they charged.

flint- I had 2 guys and their families start cutting buckthorn this fall at 4:30PM not more than 75 yards away. it was the first part of November!!!! prime time rut and a perfect night. OUCH

there are a lot of bad variables when hunting small properties. saws, blowers, dogs, kids.....

My main bowhunting spot is bordered all around by residences - a huge subdivision on the east side & scattered homes to the south, north, and west.  Yeah, seems like every time out there someone has a chain saw or lawnmower running, but the deer are still there, you just need to consider how that might impact their movements & adjust accordingly.  It certainly is frustrating during those perfect times, but don't give up on it.

So yesterday, in stand at 2pm.
15 minutues before dark, 6 does showed up. The really big doe used cover well so I had no shot. The other does were facing towards my deep gully. I had to be at work o-dark early so i did not want to spend hours finding and tracking a downed deer so I let them walk away.
I drove home tonight in the rain and the deer were there laying down in my back yard in the open.

Oh, well, happy to see deer at all after this long wait.

P.S. i relooked my saved trail cam photos and saw a perfect buck on October 24.  I checked the deer app I told you all about and sure enougt, the 24th was going to be the best day in all of October.

December dates that show high activity are Dec. 6,7,8 and 21, 22, 23.

Here’s hoping the big buck comes back!

That'll work - get out there early so things have a chance to settle down before shooting light arrives.

Thanks. Not a heavy rack like the bucks I got in Alabama but good for enough up here. I am not sure how much buck activity next month but I remain hopeful and hope my app is right!
