2018 PA Bear Season
« on: November 13, 2018, 08:29:57 AM »
Well the time is upon us again for the PA Black Bear Season, I know there are many around in the northcentral tier of PA and around my camp. There have been a few sightings over the past few months but the primary food source in the area (acorns) is very sparse this year, and we all know the bear will move to where the food is, finding it is another issue. The apple crop was sparse also in some areas and plentiful in others. I believe that the extreme amount of rainfall this year and all of the flooding around the state has had a major impact.

That being said, we are still going to give it our best shot and hope for a big hunter turnout to get them on their feet and moving around the mountains. The weather forecast in not very favorable either, it looks like rain and rain/snow mix over the weekend and into the early days of next week. That normally keeps a lot of hunters home or in camp, the mountain climbing part is also taking its toll on some of us elderly hunters, but the intentions are still there, and I'm looking forward to getting out into the woods.

Good luck to all of the bear hunters out there
