This time off
« on: September 16, 2018, 07:59:15 PM »
Back during the early spring me and Zlong got invited to go to south la to go on a swamp ppl style gator hunt. We had been finalized the dates a couple hitches ago. Got off the boat, did a quick class in Houma then met Z at our hostís house in Abita Springs. Got up the next morning headed out to the swamp. Got to the first bait, it was gone. Second bait was down, Z was up. He grabbed a hold of that line and got an introduction to handlinning alligators. After 45 mins to an hour he had the gator up and shot him. Put it in the boat then we were off to find another one. Got to another bait, got about there, saw a gator slide off the bank. I was up, shot him once, never fazed him, second shot stunned him, gator went to spinning. Z had the great idea to grab him by the tail and like to have drew back a nub. Gator went down and just layed on the bottom. I got a big treble hook and after about 10-15 tries finally snagged him, in the rear foot. I fought him up to the boat shot him twice then put him in the boat. Got back to the hill, got the gators iced off and headed to North Al. Tried the blue wing teal Saturday morning, they didnít cooperate.
Had a dove shoot at Zís House Saturday afternoon. All I can say about that was it was incredible. His family hosts a big dove shoot every year, the ladies brought all kinds of food, we ate some great food, socialized, then when the birds started flying headed out to the field and had an incredible hunt. Plenty of shooting, lots of birds and good fellowship.
After that I headed to south Alabama, got my dog, headed back north. Stoped by Zís tried the teal one more morning. After the morning hunt, I headed back to Kentucky to hunt a big 10 we have named Roscoe. Never got on him, had a chance one day but went to a different stand. Deer hunted through Thursday then came back to South Alabama, got here in time to Teal hunt Friday morning and we finally had birds. Killed a handful. Hunted Saturday morning, had 3 try to land in the boat, got done went to Oxford Ms to watch Bama play with my son, got back at 3am this morning, went teal hunting. As of now Iíve got 2 more days before I head back to work. Itís been a great time off.

Couldn't think of a better way to spend your time off. Lots of shooting, eating, fellowship and freezer filling. Life is good for the boat captain and friend and family.  @--0--0133
