One Proud Grandpa
« on: September 03, 2018, 11:16:11 AM »
Last night my daughter was looking out her back window and said to my 3 1/2 year old grandson--"Max, there are four deer in our back yard. He looked up from playing and said, "Any horns?" Sort of brought a tear to my eye. I am so proud he has the hunting tradition in his blood as he always wants to go to Bass Pro and see the big bucks. I pray that I live long enough to go on one hunt with him.

That goes to show you that the kids are listening and learning.  Our oldest granddaughter and her parents lived with us for 14 months after she was born.  When she was just a baby, I would carry her to our back window and tell her we were gonna look for deer in our yard.  I kept that up for quite a while.  After they moved out, they were visiting, and my granddaughter, who was now about 3, and talking up a storm by then, started shouting D D D.  Made me wonder why she was shouting.  I looked out and there was a doe calmly walking across the yard.  I then knew without a shadow of a doubt, that she knew what a deer was, and she had been listening to me.

Last week I was getting all my gear out for bowhunting here in NY (started today) and he picked up every single item and asked what it was for. He then spent 15 minutes practicing on my grunt call and then announced he would shoot them in the eye. I explained that you always shoot for the chest/lungs but he told me I was wrong. Toooo freaking funny. Got a video of the grunt tube practice which I will keep forever.
