stands are set
« on: August 31, 2018, 08:19:02 PM »
I spent the AM getting my stands set at my dad's place. it's 2 weeks until bow season. i'm a little late getting lanes cleared and stand set, but his place doesn't get rolling until the corn is down. so far, the cams only show one small buck and a bunch of does and fawns.

i'm all in. cabin was set last weekend. now I just have to find a target. is everyone else set?

At least partially.  My old tried & true stands are in at my bowhunting place, will occasionally call an audible & use my climber if I notice a shift in the patterns but haven't done that for a couple of years now.  Probably need to get down to bro in law's place where I gun hunt & clear some lanes, will wait for a little cooler temps.

Darn it Dave, that's really unfortunate timing, hope it's not anything serious.  Is a crossbow an option for you?  I had to make that switch last year due to a flare up of old shoulder issues, thought I'd get back to the bow this year but I don't think it is going to work.  The crossbow is incredibly effective from the stand, but heavier and more awkward getting there.  Good luck with your surgery and recovery!

Hope you have a crossbow Dave! The prices have come down and they are so much fun to shoot and hunt with. My shoulders have  both been operated on and the compound is out of the question. I love my crossbow and it allows me to be in the woods and in my tree stand during archery season. I know we cannot use them except for the last 2 weeks of the season but that happens to be the prime of the rut.

Check out the Concorde Crossbow from Parker. Dont buy it from Cabelas. Direct from Parker at the price of Cabelas.
I have back up CO2 bottles, as temps go down the CO2 deplete a bit faster
