Ammo Prices Still Dropping A Bit
« on: August 24, 2018, 06:14:58 PM »
Just for kicks I went out on the web using one of my favorite links to check up on how ammo prices are doing.  Remember a few years ago when everything got into a frenzy and a brick of .22 LR was around $50, if you could even find it?  That stuff is now starting to approach 3 cents a round again (about $15 a brick of 500) for the low end stuff.  Let's hope we don't have a repeat of that insanity anytime soon.  9mm is about 16 cents on the low end, .45 ACP about 23 cents, and .223 about a quarter a round.  If you are willing to take steel cases or remanufactured, you can sneak in a little cheaper yet.  The centerfire stuff I watch has been pretty stable now for the last year or so, but rimfire continues to drop a bit - not sure it will ever get back to that 2 cents/round range that it seemed to be in forever during the 80s and 90s, but getting close.

Here's a link I really like in case you need it.  I rarely buy ammo on-line but find this handy to get calibrated on what prices are before I go out & buy any off the shelf.  You can filter based on brands or case material or reman/new, caliber (of course), grain weight, etc.    https://ammoseek.com/

##$%#13  ##$%#15  but up here it 24.99 for a brick and when the shortage of 22 was happening they were paying 95 for a brick of 22 if you could find one. had ome guy that would look during the shortage and said he had his son count the 22 ammo he had 27000 round total and still wanted to buy more

Yeah Dave, there were a lot of guys at that time standing at the stores waiting for the trucks to be unloaded so they could grab a box or two and then try to re-sell them for 2X.  I laugh now when I see some of them trying to sell it for what they had in it - hope they take it to their grave for being such jerks.  It's been around $20 for a while around here in the stores, with quite a bit on the shelves.

The wife and I had just purchased about 10 bricks right before the shortage.  It kinda happened right at the time when "prepping" was becoming a big thing.  I ended up giving four or five bricks to close family members.  Glad to hear the prices are coming down as I still have plenty of rounds left (some of you might not agree I have enough..LOL).

I picked up three boxes for 6.5 CM for $19 a box.    That's about $8 less than I paid for the last box of 30-06.

Overall some have come down from a year or more but still a little higher than I think they should be.
