I'm back
« on: August 15, 2018, 11:39:49 AM »
from PA work weekend. We had a major job this year! The floor in the kitchen and in the hall leading into the big room dropped 3 inches. We found it back during turkey camp. The floor had pulled away from the concrete pad from the original camp. The part we worked on was an addition to the original camp and it was built on a hand poured and tamped concrete slab in 1965. When the knuckleheads that we paid good money too attached the ledger board for the floor joists they didn't drill and anchor it to the slab, they used a Hilti gun and nailed it. So over time the concrete being old gave up hence sagging floor.
So we screwed and glued 3 2X12X16 together got that shoved and rolled into the crawl space, heavy sucker, got the floor jacked up with some good old PA railroad jacks, dug two holes for treated 6X6 posts, could only get down a foot with the midget shovel, for the 2X12's to set on and installed joist hangers on the joists for added strength and BOOM new level floor!! We got it done in 7 hours which I thought was good for a bunch of old men LOL!!! The Advil run wild Friday night!! We did fix the gutter and mow grass but that was it. We didn't get any shooting in but next year that will be a priority. We should be good on major repairs for a while roof done last year floor this year. We ate well too deer kabobs grilled turkey breast fresh vegs from the garden oh and bacon wrapped chicken jalapenos peppers. All in all a great weekend.
