Yari, a week and a half ago as I was driving across northern Missouri I saw several guys chopping corn for silage already.  They'll be picking corn by the end of August I expect, the drought has been even worse for them than us this summer, corn crop didn't look good at all but beans didn't seem too stressed based on the 70 mph assessment.

mad- I could see silage, especially if it's drought. I would think picking is at least a month away, but i'm way up here. @--0--0105

Here in the Florida Panhandle we have to wait until late September and early October to plant cool season plots, clover, oats, wheat, rye, etc.  It stays too stinking hot, seeds will germinate but the sun will kill the tiny plants especially if we experience a dry spell in the fall, which is what all the row crop fellers want so they can finish up their soybeans and corn harvest. @--0--0117

They planted VERY early here this year so the combines are hitting the fields early in some places...

Normally they'd be into early September before doing much corn picking in this area, but that stuff over in the Quincy/Hannibal area is just burnt up, suspect yields for them will be pretty poor

Plots are done... 8 acres of food plots (on two different properties 50 miles apart), all of them first time plots, bush hogged, power tilled, fertilized, planted (with Whitetail Institute No-Plow) and dragged. Now we are waiting on rain, which is hopefully coming tomorrow afternoon.

After reading Bo's post about their work weekend, I am jealous of the young blood.. Our club consists of Bugfixer and myself. No young blood there...

I'm jealous of having a male's help!  The wife is one heck of a worker, but is still limited as to how much she can do.
