Uno, dos, tres, cuatro, woody, woody!
« on: July 16, 2018, 08:38:31 PM »
Woody was asking for it.  Saw him hanging around the barn,  but got spooked. Waited a while, and it finally reappeared.  Was 't offering a shot, although it was in plain view.  It went around to the back of the barn, and after a while it returned and  climbed up on the ramp, although way too close to the barn.  Eventually, it crawled forward, and it was mine!  Saw a cloud of dust fly up when the bullet hit, that was really cool.  Almost forgot, Woody was digging right by the side door of the barn, so he had to go.

Gut, what I call and use as a barn is a prefabricated story and a half one car garage.  It is 12'x20', with 7' sidewalls.  It sits on a gravel pad, about 8' thick.  Bought it abot 3-4 years ago.  I would have loved to build it myself, but the cost of the material alone was a lot higher than the cost of the prebuilt.  Delivery was also included.  With all that gravel, I didn't think a woodchuck would want to dig there.   I don't think there is a family living underneath, I would be seeing them more often,  and possibly more than one at a time.  I think they are coming in from the neighbors property.  Maybe searching for food, maybe new territory.  Most of the woodchucks I've shot this year have been young ones.
