Range Results 6-21-2018 Part 1
« on: June 21, 2018, 09:30:28 PM »
My worst day at the range is better than the best day I had at work...having said that, it was a good day at the range. My purpose was to see which ammo works out best for my newly installed 22 LR in the CZ455 bolt action rimfire...last week took out the Whistle Pig HM2 barrel off and installed the 22 LR barrel....The ammo was ELEY Subsonic and the Lapua Midas, both bullets were 40 grain bullets....all shots were from 50 yards and all groups are 10 shots. Weather was 82 Degree rising, BP was at 67% falling and he BP was 29.97 Hg and steady, the winds were swirling....when I got there the grass was wet and damp, at it was around 3:30 PM and when I left around 7 PM the grass was very dry...rain was all around us, but it did not rain after I got there....Billy did joined me after work at 5:30. He brought his CZ455 in the 17HMR configuration and the sucker shoots thorough the same hole at 50 yards, and he described it as boring. His CZ455 17HMR shoot better than mine does.....he did bring the 2K rounds of 17HM2 ammo...yippie.....add that to the collection.....

Target Scan #01 below was the first time that a round be fired from the 22 LR barrel....when I removed the HM2 barrel took off the scope - cleaned it check the rings, and took the rifle complete apart and once I got the 22 LR barrel installed, put the CZ455 back together again... had to check the torque values...once I was satisfied that it would function properly....headed for the plinking range today and shot it about 10 time using the Eley ammo just to get it close to hitting the target.....and then shot it at the 50 yard range for Scan 01

Target Scan #02 is the Lapua Midas 40 gn ammo...this seems to shoot better overall then Eley did....
Target Scan #03 was the Eley Subsonic 40 gn shot 2.5 hours later than the first time shooting this rifle
Target Scan #04 was again the Lapua Midas...shot pretty good but high.....

The first two targets Scan 01 and 02 were made from Card Stock paper, which is twice as thick as regular paper and shoots a cleaner hole though the paper.....

For the CZ455 will order a trigger spring kit for it and a few other things to complete the CZ455, should shoot better!......Its big brother, is the CZ512 Tactical, a semi-auto version. The 22 WMR/17 HMR use the same magazine so I have about 10 - 10 shot magazines that fit into either the CZ512 of the CZ512......

Part two of Range Results will be tomorrow afternoon......

It looks like the Lapua Midas groups better for you. Chipmunks at 50 yards should be wearing flack jackets.  --099-780

Gut shot, I agree with you, that is why I can justified buying 10 more boxes from Midway, they should be in early next week....

Will probably be going to the range middle of next week by myself.....will be taking the Savage HM2 and try the Eley in it......and will try to take some of my old vintage firearms, the ones manufacturer before 1980.....should be fun.....
