Two for two, with Pic now
« on: May 15, 2018, 10:50:02 PM »
Back in March, I had my first kill with my Axis .223.  Well, today, I got my 2nd woodchuck.  I was working on my garden tractor, when my wife came out to the garage and asked me if I had seen the woodchuck by the barn.  I said, no, took a quick look, and ran to get the Axis and some ammo.  The woodchuck was sitting on the ramp to the barn, so I waited to see if it would move.  Eventually, it made it to the bottom edge of the ramp, and I felt I could hit the chuck and avoid the ramp.  Took aim and squeezed the trigger,  Mr Chuck was DRT!  Couldn't see the entry hole, but the exit hole loo was about quarter size.  It was about a 50 yd shot.  I think they come in from the neighbors property on the north, crawl under the barn, and come out by the ramp.  The barn is actually what is called a raised garage, prebuilt in a factory.  It is built on one giant skid.  No foundation, just sits on a 12" thick base of gravel.  Pic will follow.
