maiden voyage #2
« on: May 12, 2018, 05:46:09 PM »
i finally got the boat out on the river. most launches are still closed, but mine is open. i got the last spot. it was a hike up the hill, but i need the exercise.

i got 2 nice walleyes for dinner. (16" & 18") a lot of sunnies, sheephead and perch. it was fun. everything worked well. it's always fun to get out there before the tuna boat start tearing it up

here is a little tip i learned this year. before you come off the lake, take a knife or scissors and cut the gills of your fish. you are basically bleeding them out. wow does it make a difference w/ your fillets. there is no blood in the meat at all. perfectly white fillets. you don't need to spend any time rinsing the fillets. they are clean.

tight lines boys

Congrats on a good outing Yari!   Thanks for the tip on the gills too - have never heard of it but will give it a try.
