Sanity check on BATF rules
« on: March 31, 2018, 10:07:24 AM »
For any of you Contender/Encore guys out there:   My understanding is if I buy an Encore or Contender new as a rifle it needs to always stay in a rifle configuration based on BATF rules, but if I buy a pistol, can I freely swap back and forth from pistol to rifle and back to pistol configurations or once I've made the first switch from pistol to rifle does it have to stay that way in order to satisfy BATF regulations?

I know a few years ago there was an attempt to get BATF to clarify their stance on this, but can't confirm where it all landed.  Apparently Thompson/Center can identify by receiver serial number whether a given unit was sold initially as a rifle or pistol, even though there's no actual physical differences between the receivers.
One of God's greatest gifts to us is
the great outdoors - get out there
and enjoy it!
