NEW Challenge Set
« on: March 13, 2018, 01:22:18 PM »
Well after some researching and talking with a few good people willing to share their knowledge and information, I did it. I lowed the hammer on the flintlock and now she's in her new home ;D There's still plenty of researching needed to be done. At least for now she's mine and my fall gobblers hunting is going to be a serious blast. I really couldn't pass up on this deal

Thanks! It's a Brian Turner 20ga (.62 caliber) smooth bore. I'll be able to hunt everything from bear to squirrels with this one. My main goal will be a gobbler and maybe a deer.

Yeah, that's a real beauty.  You really upped the ante with that purchase.  Taking turkey hunting to a whole new level.  Best of luck.  Can't wait to hear how you do with it.

That's a beautiful piece for sure - love the wood.  Hoping to build a Pennsylvania rifle after retirement & do some deer hunting with it, but I'm going to wimp out & stick with a percussion cap lock rather than flints I believe.

An old friend who used to participate regularly in the old rendevous events told me on a few occasions that a flintlock had a tendency to put sparks/smoke in your eyes if the breeze was in your face, so he started using a Hawken with percussion caps.  I've never heard that from others - would be curious to hear your thoughts after you get a chance to play with it.

Nice looking smokepole.  Just a few days ago, just happened to run into a guy that hunts turkey with a flinter.  He hasn't been successful yet, but he keeps trying.
