I have been thinking of getting a Grendel for about a year so when I got a little extra money I went for it . I'll spend the rest of summer to find the loads that it likes , only problem is I'll have to work up reloads because there are only a few factory loads , should be fun . By the way it has a 24" barrel and has a 1 in 9 twist .

Sundowner - I purchased a 6.5 Grendel also in an AR15, Platform Combo (Armalite Lower, RedX Arms Upper) topped off with a Vortex Crossfire II 4-12X x 44mm, Barrel has 8.5" twist and I find that the 129 and/or the 130 gn works best in mind....only shot it at 100 yards trying to determine which ammo it likes best either the 120 gn, 123 gn, 129 gn or 130 gn.....Purchased it a few years ago and am still working on the load for it.....

I put it all in its own case and keep the extra magazines in it as well...ready to go....see attached picture...

Also put together custom 6.8 SPC II in similar fashion....topped it off with a Ziess 1.8-5.5X x 38mm. It has a similar case for it as well....

Great looking rifle Bo , I have only had mine to the range once so far but it shoots .25 groups at 25 yards with Hornady's black ammo 123gr ELD match but I want to try SST's and Barnes solids and Sierra's 120 pro hunters . I have been up on the Grendel forum and there are quite a few loads I found there to try also .  ##$%#1118

Good info. My son is currently trying to decide between a 6.5 Grendel and a 6.8. In an AR. Anyone care to comment on which one you would choose. Any info would be appreciated.

Well today I put on a new scope , it's  Atlon-Argos 6x24x50 so far I'm really liking it . I will update hope it works when I can get it to the range and after we get the 400+ yard targets setup at the cousin's farm this summer .  ##$%#1118

MKMGOBL - Yes, I do and love it when I get ready for the range too.....The truck is now loaded with the rest, the targets, spotting scope(s), the tripods, the two chronographs...after hunting season and after I get everything put away it is time to do it all over again...after all the clothes are clean and the blinds are dry and put away and the last rifle has been clean, I normally put the tote with the tools and miscellaneous items (like stapler, staples, small tools, sand bags, magnum Caldwell rest (not the lead sledge) but actual buttstock rest and the adjustable front shooting rest) in as well...so the truck is ready to head to the range, whenever it gets warm enough to go!

On the other hand, anytime is a good time according to Dutch...Practice, Practice and Practice.....

Sundowner - I would start off at shorter distances and work you way out to 400 yards....I have tried the 120 and 129, 130 and finally the 140 grain bullets in mine...and the 140 shot best, after 6 times to the range and for the last two times at the range using the 140, it seems like it is the most accurate bullet to use.....let us all know how yours goes.....
