Oh I know they would decoy but we don't have any open water within shootin' distance of the blind Yari. Next weekend it will be warmer with some snow flurries and some light rain, they should decoy well.  ;D The boys on the west side of the county brought an Ice eater for the pond they are hunting, it cost 1000.00 but they have been slaying the Mallards. I'll send you some 50 degree air in the mail when we get some.  ##$%#114 --099-780

Gave it a go this evening in a tree stand - was 9 when I climbed in and 4 when I climbed down two hours later, right at sunset.  Two hours was about all I had in me, was starting to get painful.  The area I was in was just trampled (last snow was a little over a week ago) but didn't see anything moving.  The snow had a bit of crust on it from the last couple of days of sunshine - suspect I probably alerted everything within a half mile as I crunched my way in there.  Supposed to be in the low 30s tomorrow, will probably give it another shot tomorrow afternoon.
One of God's greatest gifts to us is
the great outdoors - get out there
and enjoy it!

Agreed. Our 2018 deer season began 01.01.18 and it has been too darn cold and windy to go out hunting. Snow we got is now frozen hard pack and smooth due tipo winds. The idea if dragging a deer uo a ravive jn theses conditions with my knees is out of the question.

Temps should get back to ‘normal’ next week

Well I couldn't stand it so I went to an old box blind on my buddies place that hadn't been hunted since last year. It was 17 degrees at 2pm when I got set. I did see 4 doe at 5:15pm but they were too far out to take a shot. So gun season is done for us, with the warmer weather coming in the week I may take the Xbow for a walk if teh Geese arn't flying.
