Finished Strong
« on: December 30, 2017, 05:48:25 PM »
Like many in the northeast, I have been out multiple times in single digit temps and one day the wind chill was -3. Still trying to figure the difference between stubborn or stupid but I'm working on it. Last evening, during our final two days of muzzleloader season, I had a deer come in right before dark. I shot and he took off down the hollow from where he came from. I checked and found blood and tracked her down the hill but lost the blood trail. A friend that was hunting in the area came by and we went back in the dark with our flashlights looking. He picked up the blood trail and saw where I had jumped him during my first attempt at tracking. I was literally on my hands and knees crawling below thick, dead pine branches with my flashlight. Then I hear him yell out "Found him!" What a relief! A snow storm was coming in last night and I was afraid I might not find him. My season is done. A 6 point in the early archery season, a button buck in early archery and now this 7 point. I am a blessed man!
