Well sorta a hunting thing
« on: December 15, 2017, 07:34:03 PM »
I've been hunting for one of these long sleek beauties for a while now. Runs and drives great. Needs some finishing touches but is good general condition. Interior only needs a little touching up here and there. Not looking to do a restoration just a flashy weekend driver. Has the original super straight 8, 3 on the tree and seats 9. Just need about 40 acres to make a u-turn. 1940 Packard with 69000 original one owner miles. You know the little old lady that only drove it to church on Sunday. Yeah... Right... maybe Bonnie before she met Clyde!!! Should know by Christmas if shes comin' home to my barn.

Beautiful car.  Very similar body to the 1940 Cadillac that my wife and I had on our wedding night (one of her uncles owned it).  Dutch - I have an old friend who is now living down in the St Louis area who had a Packard of that vintage which he completely restored - if you get it and need any advice he may be a good source of info.  PM me if you get to that point and I'll send you his contact info.  He's into Packards and old Buicks, I just talked to him about a month ago as my bro-in law is restoring an old Riviera & needed some engine help, he's still all about his cars.

you always call yourself cheap, but that's overboard. you spent your wedding night in the car? didn't even splurge for a room?  --099-780 --099-780 sorry

Yeah Yari, I'm cheap, but that might be overboard even for me!  The better half is even tighter with a dime, but I'm pretty sure I'd have met with considerable resistance if I'd suggested it.   --099-780 @--0--0136 --099-780

Nice find Dutch...back in the early 70's my ex father-in-law enjoyed restoring old cars. We were in Cullman, Ala and found a 1940 Packard in a barn and he bought it. He did an awesome job restoring it and would drive it to church on Sunday's. Your so right as you needed a football field to turn it around...LOL Hope it finds it's way to your barn.
