Congrats on your doe!  Never shot a 45-70, but have always liked the round.  Don't have anything chambered for it, but I do have dies, brass and even two bullet molds.

Nice work, I'm assuming that sent her straight to the ground - had to be quite a bit of trauma to the old central nervous system when that pile of lead went through her neck.

Have always been fascinated by that round but have never fired one - - one of these days would like to find an old high wall single shot in that caliber.

I let an H&R  classic carbine slip away from me.  Fellow I know wanted to sell his, but I didn't have spare  Grants, plus I didn't think he was in that much of a hurry to sell.  Apparently he was. 😣

Louie, I was going to buy one until they came out with the final ruling on the straight walled cartridges allowed in our shotgun zone.   I will still pick one up someday but am bummed that it is 0.305" over the cut off in the new restrictions.

Mike, I've read somewhere that some guys are.trimming their brass to meet the 1.800" max lenght restric tion.  My question would then be, how do you convince the C.O. you don't have a full size round somewhere in your possession?
You can show him the shortened case, and he  could measure it, then what?
